Books about Christmas trees and cookies
Trim up the tree with two festive reads--and another one about a naughty gingerbread baby.
Merry Christmas! Our house is currently decked with four Christmas trees (one big and three very small), and somehow my toddlers have decorated all of them.
So, all of the ornaments are in a clump on the bottom four branches, with a few strewn on the floor. They’re perfect. ; )
This week I have two books about Christmas trees and one about a naughty gingerbread cookie. We love to eat Christmas cookies while we trim the tree, which is why I’m including this book in this week’s newsletter.
What’s your family’s favorite book about decorating for Christmas?
“Pick a Pine Tree” by Patricia Toht
This book follows a family as they pick a real tree from a lot then take it home to decorate it. Our family has an artificial tree, but my kids love to see the process of putting on the lights, choosing ornaments, finding the topper, etc., and comparing it to our family’s traditions.

“Little Blue Truck’s Christmas” by Alice Schertle
“Beep beep beep, December’s here! Little Blue Truck is full of cheer.”
Count some Christmas trees as everyone’s favorite pick-up truck delivers them to his friends. The story is very simple, but my kids love remarking on the differences between the trees and seeing which animals picked which tree.

“Gingerbread Baby” by Jan Brett
This lively take on the classic tale of the gingerbread boy is so much fun!
Matti wants to make a gingerbread cookie, but he peeks in the oven too soon, and out jumps a gingerbread baby. No one in town can catch him, and he causes all sorts of mischief along the way.

Coming up next week: books about the nativity! Let me know in the comments if you have any favorites.
