Favorite interactive children's books
Little ones feeling wiggly or needing a bit more excitement while reading? Try these books that call for reader participation.
Reading books is fun, but smelling, touching and shaking books is even better! If you have tactile learners, wiggly readers or littles who just like trying something new, give these books a try:
“Peter Follows His Nose”
A scratch-and-sniff book! This one is great for babies and big kids alike. The words and pictures are simple, and the scents are super fun.
“Press Here” by Herve Tullet
Kids learn cause and effect by performing the actions on each page. Press a button, and it multiplies! Tilt the book, and the dots roll! Clap too loud, and the dots grow!
“Follow the Trail: Wild Animals” by DK
Follow the bumpy, glittery trails to help baby animals (penguins, elephants, lions and bears) find their way home. Along the way, kids learn about each of the animals’ habits and habitats.
“Hungry Bunny” by Claudia Rueda
Help Hungry Bunny pick apples for his mom’s apple pie—but don’t lose them on the way home!
Petite Delights
Little things bringing me joy this week, and hopefully they will for you, too!
Sugar Paper is having their birthday sale, with 20% off everything (code is BIRTHDAY). I use this journal as my “motherhood journal,” where I keep track of milestones and memories for my little ones, and Sugar Paper is my go-to source for gift wrap. (I do not use commissionable links—I just truly love this brand!)
Paige Rien has quickly become one of my favorite people to follow on Instagram. I love this post about her kitchen sink full of dirty dishes. It puts the mess in perspective and serves as a gentle—and much needed—reminder that the work you do as a mom has a much bigger impact than we likely will ever realize.
“We crave beauty and beauty to surround us at home - but let’s create beauty that honors our season and the primary work of our kids - which might just be - to play…” ←If this is your idea of good design advice (it’s definitely mine), give her a follow!
”What I want them to remember most of all is that they were a blessing, not a burden.” - Leslie Martino
These books are all so cute!! I’ve always found that interactive books are often cheesy and the illustrations not my cup of tea, but I love all of these! I’m adding them to my list!! They are so sweet and creative, and illustrations are adorable.
