Welcome to Petite Reads!
This is a newsletter celebrating childhood through children’s books.
“What was wonderful about childhood is that anything in it was a wonder. It was not merely a world full of miracles; it was a miraculous world.”
- G.K. Chesterton
This newsletter publishes once a week (most of the time) and includes:
A thoughtfully and lovingly curated list of picture books for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.
Ideas, items and activities to complement and enhance the stories on the list.
Inspiration and encouragement for these unpredictable days of early motherhood.
A little about me…
I am a writer and editor who stepped back from a 9-to-5 job after 10 years in the corporate communications industry to be at home with my 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter.
I started this newsletter because finding good children’s books can be really hard, and I strive to create a resource for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. to find beautiful and inspiring books for their little ones.
You can trust the books I share to be worth your family’s time and investment. They will be engaging for both you and your tiny ones and respect childhood for the beautiful and important stage that it is.
“And why should not a children’s story submit to the same standards of good honest writing as any real literature?”
— Margaret Wise Brown
This newsletter is called “Petite Reads” for a couple reasons:
It’s meant to be a short, quick read in your inbox.
It’s about little books for little people.
It’s a reminder that life’s most important moments and pleasures are often little.
Here’s to celebrating the little people we love so much and all the little ways we can make the world lovely for them.
“If I have done anything, even a little, to help small children enjoy honest, simple pleasures, I have done a bit of good.”
- Beatrix Potter
